| STANDARD TOOLBAR | Displays buttons for accessing common features & commands, such as saving, opening, printing. |
| FORMATTING TOOLBAR | Displays buttons for accessing common formatting features, such as bold, italic, centering. |
| HORIZONTAL RULER | This ruler measures the width of the document. |
| VERTICAL RULER | This ruler measures the height of the document page. |
| STATUS BAR | This bar (at the bottom) displays information, such as the currently displayed page, section, # of pages in the document. |
| OFFICE ASSISTANT | This feature can be in the form of a Paper Clip and answers questions & offers suggestions. |
| SHOW/HIDE MARKS | Another name for NONPRINTNG CHARACTERS, such as spaces, tabs, and paragraph marks. |
| INSERTION POINT | Blinking line that displays where you will start typing. |
| VIEW BUTTONS | Used to change to one of the 4 available VIEWS. |
| UNDO COMMAND | Use this button to REVERSE your actions. |
| BACKSPACE KEY | Use this key to erase characters to the LEFT of the insertion point. |
| DELETE KEY | Use this key to erase characters to the RIGHT of the insertion point. |
