wrap | Put around. (Wrap the transfer belt around the resident's waist.) |
wrinkle | a fold or crease in the sheets, bedding, or on the skin. |
scrape | To tear or break the skin. |
scoot | Slide. (Do you want to scoot back in your chair?) |
moist/moisture | a little wet |
incontinence | Inability to control bowel or bladder function |
sacral/sacrum | Bone at the base of the spine |
draw sheet/lift sheet | Sheet placed under the patient to assist in moving |
mobility | The ability to move one’s body |
friction | Rubbing together of two surfaces |
shearing | When moving, the skin stays in the same place and the muscle moves |
bony area/prominence | A bone without a large layer of fat or muscle between the bone and skin (heel, knee, sacrum, etc.) |
