| New York | Estabished in 1664. The English and the Dutch fought over this land,but ultimately the English won when they moved in and the Dutch surrendered. This colony connected all of England's claimed land. |
| New Jersey | Established in 1702. This land was a gift from the Duke of York to his friends. Because of this,socially it was very similar to the feudal system of manors and lords. |
| Pennsylvania | Established in 1682 by William Penn, a Quaker, to escape persecution in both England and the Massachusetts Bay Company. |
| Delaware | Established in 1701 by William Penn after the Duke of York gave it to him. It provided Pennsylvania with coastal land. |
| Maryland | Established in 1632 by Sir George Calver and his son Lord Baltimore as a place where Catholics could live without fear of persecution |
| Carolinas | Established in 1712. The land was originally given to eight wealthy people by the King in 1663. People settled in two distinct areas: one consisted primarily of poor farmers raising small crops, the other consisted of plantations, worked by slaves, which produced big crops. |
| Georgia | Established in 1732 by James Oglethorpe who wanted to give debtors a chance to start over. This colony also provided a buffer between Spanish Florida and the rest of England's colonies |
