| Path | The line that forms the shape of an object |

| Menu Bar | Contains a list of various drop down menus that list Illustrator commands |
| Status Bar | A bar at the bottom of the screen that contains the zoom and status pop up menus. |

| Navigator Palette | Used to allow the user to focus on a specific area of a drawing or to change the magnification |
| CMYK Model | The color model used for printing output on paper |
| Color Mode | Determines the color model used to display and print the Illustrator file |
| Picas | Measurement system frequently used in graphic design. There are six picas to an inch |
| Points | Measurement system frequently used in graphic design. A point is 1/72nd of an inch |
| RGB Model | The color model used for illustrations to be viewed on computer monitors |
| Hidden Toolbars | Contains a list of tools that are all related to a specific category that are hidden |
| Palette Groups | A group of palettes. They are Appearance, Color, Styles, and Layers |
| Modifier Keys | Keys on the keyboard that allow the user to adjust or modify shapes and lines while drawing |
| Undo | The process of undoing or reversing the last action. |
| Illustrator File Format | The format that the drawing is stored when it is saved to disk |
| Anchor Point | Points on a path that indicate a change of direction |
| Bounding Box | A temporary frame around a selected object that shows the object’s outer dimensions |
| Grid | A series of intersecting horizontal and vertical lines like graph paper |
| Smart Guides | Temporary guides that display when the user moves the pointer over an object in the work area |
| Smooth Point | An anchor point that connects path segments in a smooth curve |
| Closed Path | A path that has no endpoints like a circle or rectangle |
| Open Path | A line with two endpoints, one at the beginning and one at the end of the path |

| Corner Point | An anchor point where a path changes direction in an angle rather than smoothly |
