Underground Railroada network of secret routes and safe houses established in the United States during the early to mid-19 century, and used by enslaved African-Americans to escape into free states and Canada
Slave Coastthe Western African region that was a major source of Africans that were taken into slavery during the Atlantic slave trade
Spiritualsa genre of songs originating in the United States and created by African Americans; the songs described the hardships of slavery, promoted Christian values and traditions, and also served as a code for the Underground Railroad
