eyepiece,  | the lens at the top that you look through. It has 10x magnification, which means things will look 10 times bigger when looking at them through the lens, |
arm,  | supports the tube and connects it to the base, |
base,  | the bottom of the microscope, used for support, |
body tube,  | connects the eyepiece to the objective lenses, |
coarse adjustment knob,  | moves the stage up and down very quickly, |
diaphragm,  | rotating disk under the stage with different sized holes to change the intensity and size of the cone of light that is projected into the slide, |
fine adjustment knob,  | moves the stage up and down slowly so you can bring the specimen into focus, |
light source,  | a steady light source used in place of a mirror, |
objectives,  | 4x, 10x, 40x powers, |
revolving nosepiece,  | holds three objective lenses and can be rotated to change power, |
stage,  | the flat platform where you place your slides, |
stage clips,  | holds the slide in place, |
