exponent | a symbol written at the top right of a mathematical expression to indicate the operation of raising that base to a power, it tells you how many times to multiply the base by itself |
factors/factoring | terms or expressions tht are multiplied together to produce a more complex expression |
FOIL method | the order of steps to follow when multipying two binomials |
function | a mathematical rule that relates an input to exactly one output |
greatest common factor | the largest positive integer by which two integers can be divided |
hypotenuse | the longest side of any right triangle, across from the right angle |
improper fraction | a fraction in which the numerator is greater than the denominator |
inequality | a statement that compares two expressions that are not equal |
intercept | the point on a graph where a line crosees the x and the y axes |
interest | when money is loaned or invested, interest is the amount earned for the use of that money |
Least Common Multiple(LCM) | the smallest positive integer that is divisible by both of two numbers |
like terms | terms that have the same variable and the same exponent |
