| Eminent Domain | The power of the government to take private property for public use so long as they justly compensate the owner |
| Due Process of Law | The right of every citizen including, the accused, to be treated fairly by our government |
| Equal Protection | The idea that no individual or group may receive special privileges nor be discrimanted against. (14th Amendment) |
| Consent of the governed | The idea that the authority of a government should depend on the consent of the people (voting) |
| Individual Rights | Rights that are guaranteed to every individual and protected by our Constitution |
| Representative Democracy | A form of government where people elect officials to carry out government for them. |
