| 3 stages ALARM | mind and body go on high alert, brain sends signal to adrenal gland to release the hormones adrenaline and epinephrine. “FIGHT OR FLIGHT” response. Prepares your body either to defend itself or flee. Extra blood is pumped, extra oxygen sent to muscles. |
| 3 stages RESISTANCE | if stressor continues, body adapts to the stressor, body performs at higher level with more endurance for short period. |
| 3 stages FATIGUE | with prolonged stress, the body can’t keep up with the higher levels of alertness and loses ability to adapt. You wear out and lose ability to manage other stressors. |
