What did the National Assemble do to raise money and weaken the Catholic Church?They sold the churches land and in return the Assembly agreed to assume church expenses such as supporting the clergy and aiding the poor.
What is the Civil Constitution of Clergy? When was it passed?It stated that each parish should elect its own priest. It was passed in 1790.
Did people abide by the loyalty oath? What happened?Only half of the people accepted it. So there were now 2 Catholic Churches in France. One loyal to the government and the other loyal to the Pope.
