A Gem of a Geometry Game

Geometric terminology

AB
PrismsSolid polyhedrons which have multiple faces, edges, vertices, and bases
VertexThe point where 2 edges intersect or join.
PyramidA solid polyhedron with triangular faces and only 1 base.
EdgeFormed when two or more faces intersect or join together.
How are prisms & Pyramids named?By the shape of their bases
Congruent FiguresFigures that have the same shape and are the same size.
Similar FiguresFigures which have the same shape, but may NOT have the same size.

CircleA closed plane figure formed by all points that are the same distance from the center.
CenterThe given point in a circle where all points are the same distance from each other.
ChordA line segment which extends across a circle.
DiameterA line segment whcih passes through the center of a circle. Twice the radius.
RadiusA line segment that connects the center of a circle with one point on the circle. One half of the diameter.
Line of SymmetryA line which cuts a figure in half, and leaves a resulting image which is exactly the same.
PointUsed to describe an exact location in space.
LineA straight path made up of points in a plane. It goes on forever in BOTH directions.
Line SegmentPart of a line. It is a straight path with 2 endpoints.
PlaneAll points that form a flat surface. It extends in ALL directions
RayPart of a line that has one endpoint and goes on forever in ONE direction.
AngleWhen 2 rays have the same endpoint, it forms this.
Octagon8 sided, 8 angled figure
Hexagon6 sided, 6 angled figure
Pentagon5 sided, 5 angled figure
Quadrilateral4 sided, 4 angled figure
PolygonA many sided geometric figure.
Isosceles TriangleA triangle with at least 2 equal sides and 2 equal angles.
Scalene TriangleA triangle where NONE of the sides are equal.
Equilateral TriangleA triangle where ALL sides are equal.
Right TriangleA triangle where one right angle is formed.
AcuteLess than 90 degrees
ObtuseGreater than 90 degrees
Right AngleA 90 degree angle
180 degreesA straight line
RectangleFour right angles and 2 sets of equal sides.
Square4 right angles and all sides equal.
Rhombus4 equal sides, 2 acute angles, 2 obtuse angles.
ParallelogramOpposite sides are equal, acute angles, 2 obtuse angles.
TrapezoidAny polygon with ONLY 1 pair of parallel sides.
