| password | combination of letters and numbers that aallow a user to work on a computer |
| recycle bin | folder on the desktop where files and folders are placed when they are no longer needed |
| right click | to press the right button on the mouse to open additional menus |
| screen | the part of the monitor that displays your work |
| screensaver | picture that covers the screen, has some movement, and appears when your computer has been idle for a while |
| scroll | To move through a document either up and down or sideways, in a continuous and smooth movement |
| scroll bar | The rectangular area on the right side of the window that allows you to move up or down in the open document |
| soft boot | to press Ctrl+Alt+Del keys to reboot a computer when there is a problem |
| start button | button in lower left hand corner of screen that gives you options when you start your work |
| system tray | area of the taskbar opposite the start button where the clock is located |
| status bar | Part of the display used for giving you information about the current state of operations |
| task bar | bar along the bottom of the desktop that holds program and setting icons and minimized windows |
| title bar | The bar containing the title, close, and expand boxes at the top of a window |
| tool bar | the row of buttons across the top of your window |
| undo/redo | your best friend when you make a mistake |
| user name | the letters you type in to log onto a computer |
| wallpaper | picture or design that is part of your desktop |
