atollA horseshoe-shaped island formed by coral and surrounded by a lagoon.
river bankThe land along the sides of a river or canal.

valleyA U-shaped lowland between hills or mountains.
volcanoAn opening in the earth's crust from which molten rock erupts.
mesaAn elevated piece of land with a flat top and steep sides.
geyserA spout of water heated by molten rock underground.
prairieTreeless plain, usually covered by tall grass.
gulfA large inlet of ocean or sea that is partially surrounded by land.
lagoonA shallow body of water separated from the ocean by reefs or low strips of land.
isthmusA narrow strip of land that connects two larger bodies of land.
lakeA body of water completely surrounded by land.
mountainA part of the land that rises at least 1,000 feet above the surrounding land.
mouthThe place where a river flows into a larger body of water.
tributaryA stream or river that flows into a larger stream or river.
swampA wetland similiar to a marsh but usually larger in area and supporting plant life, such as trees and shrubs.
caveA hole beneath the surface of the earth.
peakThe highest point of a mountain.
mountain rangeA chain of mountains.
streamA small river.
riverA large stream that flows from a source to a larger body of water.
marshA low, water-soaked, poorly drained area with thick tall grasses and reeds.
rangeA large area of open land.
desertA barren land area containing little or no vegetation.
continentA large mass of land surrounded by oceans.
hillA part of the land that rises gently above the level of the surrounding land.
gorgeA V-shaped, steep-sided canyon, usually caused by swiftly flowing water.
forestA large, dense growth of trees, plants, and underbrush.
oceanA large body of salt water that separates land.
pondA small body of fresh water.
reefA ridge of sand, coral, or bedrock under water but near the surface.
fjordA long, narrow inlet or arm of the ocean bordered by high cliffs.
