Cursor | An on-screen blinking character that shows where the next character will appear. |

Flush left/Align left/Left aligned | The alignment of text along the left margin, leaving a ragged right margin. |

Font | One complete collection of letters, punctuation marks, numbers, and special characters with a consistent and identifiable typeface, weight, posture, and type size. |
Formatting | The formatting of a document includes margins, the font and alignment used for text, headers, footers, page numbering, and the way that numbers are displayed. |
Hanging Indent | A temporary left margin that indents all lines but the first line of the text. |
Inside/letter address | The address of the receiver of the letter. |
Justification/Justified/Full justified | The alignment of multiple lines of text along the left margin, the right margin, or both margins. The term justification often is used to refer to full justification, or the alignment of text along both margins. |
Landscape | A page layout in which text and/or graphics are printed across the long edge of the page (same as landscape orientation). |
Letterhead | Stationary used by a business that contains information such as the business name, address, logo, web site, and telephone number. |
Memo | A written message used by employees within an organization to communicate with one another. |
Memo heading | Includes the information required for sending the memo (To:, From:, Date:, and Subject:) |
Name of the writer/Signature Block | The originator of the message and is keyed a quadruple space below the complimentary close. |
Orientation | The vertical or horizontal setup of the printed page (landscape or portrait). |
Personal business letter | A letter written by an individual to deal with business of a personal nature. |

Textual citations | References used to give credit for quoted or paraphrased material and are keyed in parentheses in the report body. |
Thesaurus | A program, often a feature of word processing programs, that checks selected words in a document for others words of similar meaning. |
Triple space | Pressing the enter key three (3) times leaving two blank lines. |
Unbound report | Short reports that are prepared without binders or covers. |
Word processing | Using the computer to create, edit, proofread, format, and print documents. |
Word wrap | A feature that causes the word processor to force all text to fit within the defined margins. When you fill one line with text, the word processor automatically jumps to the next line so that you are not required to keep track of line lengths and to press the Return key after each line. |
