camera-ready | Material submitted by staff that is ready to be photographed for production |
candid | A photograph that is not prepared |
cap height | Actual height of a capital letter, as opposed to its point size |
capital | Large letters of the alphabet |
caption | Explanatory copy identifying who, what, when, where, why and how of a picture. Also tells something extra to amplify the message. |
catch phrase | A word or group of words incorporated in the visual presentation of the theme to catch the readers' attention and lint theme spreads together |
centered | Placement of element, usually a headline, at a midpoint in relation to some other element |
clip art | Illustrative material which can be purchased and used by slipping from supplied camera-ready material. Also available on disk. |
close reigister | Any elements set closer than one half pica apart |
collage | A grouping of photos, often trimmed in irregular shapes around subjects, and overlapped and printed without captions |
colophon | A statement recording the names of the staff and printer, book specifications, size of the edition, and other information about the production of the yearbook |
color matching system | System of numbered red ink colors that facilitates communicaiton about color |
