custom embossed cover | The artwork is made into a brass die. Using heat the die is stamped onto the cover which creates a 3 diminsional relief on the cover's surface |
cutline | Short description or explanation adjacent to an illustration or photograph, other than a title or heading |
cyan | Tranlucent blue ink, that is used as a process color |
descender | Letter stroke that falls below the baseline such as "g", "y", "p", etc |
die cut | Process whereby a design is literally cut into a cover or endsheet using a metal pattern (die) |
division page | Any of the theme/concept pages introducing each new section of the book and relating each back to the main theme/concept |
