| embossing | Special process that creates a raised image usually on the surface of the cover or an endsheet | 
| endsheet | Heavy sheet of paper that attaches the book to its cover. | 
| enlargement | An image, usually a print, that is larger than the negative | 
| exterman margin | The outside margin of a page as established by the laout form. At least one element should tough this on each side of the spread | 
| eyeline | Formed by arrangeing phtots, type, or other page elements to form an even band of ehite space across the two facing pages | 
| flat | One side (8 pages) of a signature.  With the expection of a natural spread these are not consecutive pages | 
| foil stamping | A process by which a foil is applied to covers and/or endsheets using a die, heat, and pressure |
