Active fileThe file currently displayed.
Embedded objectAn object that keeps the features of the source application.
Floating objectAn object that can be positioned by dragging the object.
Inline objectAn object that is placed in the text at the insertion point. It can then be positioned by using paragraph alignment, indents, and tabs.
Linked objectAn object that can only be modified by editing the source file.
StaticPasted data that is not connected to the source file or to the source application.
Close commandCloses an open file. Found in the File menu. The Close button in the upper-right corner of the document window can be used instead of the command.
Copy buttonPlaces a copy of the selected data on the Clipboard. Found on the toolbar. Copy in the Edit menu can be used instead of the button.
Edit Hyperlink commandUsed to edit a hyperlink. Found in the menu displayed by right-clicking a hyperlink.
Hyperlink buttonDisplays a dialog box used to insert a hyperlink to a different file. Found on the toolbar. Hyperlink in the Insert menu can be used instead of the command.
Open commandDisplays a dialog box used to open an existing file. Found in the File menu. The Open button on the toolbar can be used instead of the command.
Open Office Document commandDisplays the Open Office Document dialog box. Found in the Start menu.
Paste buttonPlaces the Clipboard contents in a worksheet starting at the selected cell. Found on the toolbar. Paste in the Edit menu can be used instead of the button.
Paste Options buttonDisplayed when Clipboard contents are placed in cells.
Paste Special commandDisplays a dialog box that can be used to paste the Clipboard contents as an embedded or linked object. Found in the Edit menu.
Remove Hyperlink commandUsed to remove a hyperlink. Found in the menu displayed by right-clicking a hyperlink.
Save commandSaves the active file. Found in the File menu. The Save button on the toolbar can be used instead of the command.
