| Inline object | An object that is placed in the text at the insertion point. It can then be positioned by using paragraph alignment, indents, and tabs. |
| Linked object | An object that can only be modified by editing the source file. |
| Static | Pasted data that is not connected to the source file or to the source application. |
| Close command | Closes an open file. Found in the File menu. The Close button in the upper-right corner of the document window can be used instead of the command. |
| Copy button | Places a copy of the selected data on the Clipboard. Found on the toolbar. Copy in the Edit menu can be used instead of the button. |

| Paste Special command | Displays a dialog box that can be used to paste the Clipboard contents as an embedded or linked object. Found in the Edit menu. |
| Remove Hyperlink command | Used to remove a hyperlink. Found in the menu displayed by right-clicking a hyperlink. |
| Save command | Saves the active file. Found in the File menu. The Save button on the toolbar can be used instead of the command. |
