| first person | the author tells the story directly to the reader. |
| third person | the author tells the story using "he" or "she." |
| first person participant | is actively involved in the story. |
| third person omniscient | little is revealed inside the characters. |
| third person limited omniscient | parts of the inside mind of the characters are revealed. |
| third person objective | narrator knows and tells all from a "God like perspective." |
