Unit 3 Geometry Vocabulary

Practice vocabualry terms used in Unit 3.

AB
Acute AngleAn Angle less than 90 degrees
Obtuse AngleAn angle more than 90 degrees and less than 190 degrees
Right AngleAn angle that is 90 degrees
Straight AngleAn angle that is 180 degrees
Reflex AngleAn angle that is more than 180 degrees.
RadiusA line drawn from the center of a circle to the outer edge.
DiameterA line drawn through the center of a circle from one side of to the other side.
Verticle AnglesWhen you have a pair of intersecting lines, the angles that are across from eachother.
Adjacent AnglesAngles that are right next to eachther.
Equilateral TriangleA triangle where all 3 sides are equal.
Isoceles TriangleA triangle in which 2 or 3 sides are equal.
Scalene TriangleA triangle in which no sides are equal.
CongruentExactly the same shape and size
Regular PolygonPolygon in which all the sides are the same.
TessellationAn arrangement of shapes that covers a surface completely without overlaps or gaps.
TessellateTo make a tessellation; to tile.
ParallelNever meeting and always the same distance apart.
Right AngleA 90 degree angle
PerimeterThe distance around a closed 2-dimensional shape
PentagonA polygon with 5 sides
KiteA quadrilateral with 2 pairs of adjacent equal sides. All sides cannot have the same length.
ParallelogramA quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides. Opposite sides are congruent.
PolygonA closed 2-dimenstional figure that is made ip of line segments joined end to end. The line segments cannot cross.
