| Cell | The place where a column and a row meet. |
| Cell Address | This identifies the cell. It is the column letter and row number. |
| Column | They run up and down and are identified by letters. |
| Database | A collection of information. |
| Field Names | The categories of information in a particular database. A record is made up of information in each field. |
| Fill Handle | The small square in the lower right corner of a selected cell. It allows you to fill values, series or formulas down or across. |
| Format | To change the appearance of something. |
| Formula | Tells Excel to perform a mathematical operation. They always begin with an equal (=) sign. |
| Freeze Panes | This feature you can freeze either columns or rows in your worksheet so that they remain visible whilst you scroll. |
| Function | A word representing a mathematical operation. A function usually has arguments contained in parentheses. For example the function AVERAGE(A1:A10) tells Excel to find the average for the numbers in the range A1:A10 |
| Macro | A way to automate a task that you perform repeatedly or on a regular basis. |
| Name Box | Displays the address of the active cell. Located on the left end of the Formula bar. |
| Range | Selecting more than one cell. |
| Records | The groups of information in a database. You may add and delete records from a database at any time. |
| Row | They run across and are identified by numbers. |
| Workbook | Contains many worksheets. |
| Worksheet | Appear as tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet. |
| Zoom | To change the size that the worksheet appears on the screen, choose a different percentage from the Zoom menu. |
