Word Processing | using a computer and software program, such as Word, to produce documents such as letters and reports. |
Menu Bar | Located directly below the title bar, contains menu titles from which you can choose a variety of word processing commands. |
Title Bar | Located at the very top of the screen it is where the names of the program and the current file are located. |
Standard Toolbar | Located below the Menu bar, contains buttons you can sue to perfrom comman tasks, such as printing and opening documents. |
Formatting Toolbar | Contains buttons for changing character and paragraph formatting, such as alignment and type styles. |
Ruler | Located beneath the toolbar, you can quickly change indentions, tabs, and margins. |
Insertion Point | It shows where text will appear when you begin keying. |
View Buttons | Located at the lower left corner of the document window, it allows you to quickly change views. |
Scroll Bars | Located at the bottom and right sides of the window, allow you to move quickly to other areas of the document. |
Status Bar | Located at the bottom of the window, it tells you what portion of the document is shown on the screen and the location of the insertion point, as well as displays the status of certain Word features. |
Taskbar | Located at the bottom of the screen. It shows the Start button, and all open programs. |
Menu | List of options from which to choose. |
Icons | Small pictures to remind you of each button's function. |
RAM | Temporary storage in a computer; data and programs stored in RAM are lost when the computer is turned off. |
Portrait Orientation | Documents are longer than they are wide |
Landscape Orientation | Documents are wider than they are long |
