| Status Bar | A strip along the bottom of a software or internet application that indicates what is happening with a task |
| Scrolling | To cause displayed text or graphics to move up, down, or across |
| Dial up | A way to connect to the Internet or another computer over an ordinary telephone lin |
| Modem | Modulator/Demodulator; used between a computer and a phone or cable line to convert the computer's digital signal to an analog sugnal for the line and vice versa |
| Spyware | Any type of software that transmits information without the user's knowledge |

| Search Engine | A web-based program that allows users to look upi and retrieve specific information inline |

| Network | A group of two or more computer systems linked together |
