| Cruise Director | "Commander-in-Chief" of all on-board entertainment, creates, coordinates, and implements the daily program, acting master of ceremonies at social activities and evening shows, port talks and lectures. Acts as a liaison between passengers, officers, and crew. |
| Chief Purser | All of the ship's accounting and administration is done here. Is responsible for crew payroll, passports, and visas. Typing is usually required by anyone working in this department. |
| Chief Engineer | Has the ultimate responsibility for the mechanical well-being of a cruise ship. This includes overseeing not only the main and auxiliary engines, but also the generators, electrical systems, air- conditioning, heating, plumbing, ventilation and refrigeration systems. |
| Cabin Steward | – Is responsible for making beds, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, and tending to the general cleanliness and neatness of passengers' cabins |
| Maitre D' | Responsible for the day to day operations and supervision of the restaurants. Responsibilities include training, maintaining a high standard of food quality and service, cleanliness of restaurant. |
| Executive Chef | He is in charge of the overall operation, production, and maintenance and key personnel in the galley. Is responsible for planning the menus, ordering food, organizing his staff, and arranging meals. |
| Captain | Position ranges from running a one-man day-sailing enterprise, to managing a complex operation with many departments, personnel, and a large budget. |
| Medical Officer | A qualified M.D. who maintains regular office hours for passengers and special hours for crew. Is on call 24 hours a day when the ship is at sea. |
