| Parallelogram | A quadrilateral with both sets of opposite sides parallel. |
| Trapezoid | A quadrilateral with exactly one set of parallel sides. |
| Rhombus | A parallelogram with four congruent sides. |
| Rectangle | A parallelogram with four right angles. |
| Square | A parellelogram with four right angles and four congruent sides. It is both a rhombus and a rectangle. |
| Bases of a trapezoid | The parallel sides of a trapezoid. |
| Midsegment of a Trapezoid | This special segment is half the sum of the bases. |
