| chemical property | properties that allow a material to change to something new. |
| physical change | any change in the size, shape, or form of matter in which the makeup of the matter remains the same. |
| chemical change | any change where one or more of the original materials changes into other materials. |
| weathering | when weather (wind and rain) changes the physical appearance of a rock or building. |
| acid | a material with a sour taste, such as orange juice or lemons. |
| base | a material with a slippery feel, such as soap or ammonia. |
