STCS ART PROGRAM

Students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade attend art class once a week. Art experiences include drawing, watercolor and tempera painting, experimenting with pastels, printmaking, collage, and hand-building with clay. We will be learning about famous artists and art in history and culture, with a special emphasis on Arizona artists in conjunction with Arizona’s 100th birthday in 2012.

St. Theresa's art curriculum is based upon the Diocese of Phoenix's Fine Arts Standards as well as the State and National Art Standards, which include the elements and principles of design (line, color, shape, texture, etc.) as well as the relevancy of art to our Catholic faith.

~ ARTSONIA~

- Artsonia is an online student art gallery (www.artsonia.com). Throughout the year, various student projects are photographed and uploaded with the help of parent volunteers. Each student’s artwork is then compiled into a portfolio which accumulates over the entire time your child is a student at St. Theresa Catholic School. Over the past two years, we have been able to accumulate over three thousand samples of student artwork on our St. Theresa Artsonia gallery web page. Clicking on the link below will take you directly to our gallery.

- Parents have the opportunity to purchase items such as note cards featuring their child's artwork through the Artsonia website. These make wonderful gifts, especially for grandparents. Part of the price (15%) of these items is returned to the school for the purchase of art materials.
