~ROSARY SUNDAY POSTER CONTEST~

2011 Theme: Our Lady of Guadalupe Visiting My Family.

All Catholic students grades K-8 are invited to participate in the Arizona Rosary Celebration Poster Contest to involve children in the annual Rosary Sunday celebration. Invitations to participate are extended to all parishes and groups in each diocese. This year, the posters were based on the theme "Our Lady of Guadalupe and my Family." Twenty-four winners were chosen from the Diocese of Phoenix and were invited to a pizza party with Bishop Olmsted. The two winners from St. Theresa were Lucy Leivian in Mrs. Nicol's kindergarten class and Joey Chapman in Mrs. Debus' first grade. For the past 35 years, Rosary Sunday, held in Phoenix, has been one of the largest annual public Rosary celebrations in the United States. This major celebration in honor of Our Lady is sponsored by the Arizona Knights of Columbus and held in conjunction with the Dioceses of Tucson and Phoenix. Assistance is given by many groups and organizations, including the Legion of Mary and Catholic Daughters. 2010 Theme: Mary, My Heavenly Mother

No winners this year, but the following students received Honorable Mention: Erika Hickey, third grade, Emma Zorn, 1st Grade, Michael Duke, and Kyle Andrews.

2009 Theme: “Mary, Help of Christians.” Students in Grades K-3 looked at Renaissance (and earlier) paintings to see how Mary is depicted (usually with a halo and blue robe—blue for royalty). Students then drew and colored a picture of how Mary was helping them. We had three winners:
