Half of the 750 Major League Baseball players have salaries of over $1,300,000  per year with 177 players receiving $10,000,000 per season. and 50 players make over $20,000,000 per yaer.

The minimum salary for an MLB player is nearly $800,000 while the average minimum salaryy for a first year public school teacher  is less than $50,000.

While the average public school teacher is currently making an annual salary of  a $71,000 per year, there are 177 Major League players that makes  over $50,000 per game.

Professional athletes are extremely well paid entertainers while many excellent educators are vastly under paid,

Shohei Ohtani has a contrct paying him $70 million per year which is equal to the combined salaries of 1,000 public school teachers. Ohtani receive over $400,000 per game while the average teacher is paid less than $400 per day.

A averaage teacher earns about $400 per day, while an  even mediocre MLB players make an average of over $8,000 per game.

Teachers  salaries should be based on merit rather than on seniority, If MLB salaries were based on years of experience the highest paid players would likely be the oldest rather than the best plaeys,

For a public school teacher to receive in a yaer as much as Shoehei Ohtani receives in a year the teahcer would need  work for 8 hours a day for 100 years.
