There are 435 Congressional Districts represented in the Congress of the United States. If the people living in those Districts are to remain free, they must choose their representatives wisely and carefully and scrutinize their behavior.
Each of the members of the House of Representatives has taken an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. When Congressmen vote for legislation that violates the Constitution they become unworthy of their positions of public trust.
Unfortunately, these men and women who were elected to serve us have become Kings and Queens in their Congressional Districts. Instead of being the servants of the people, they have become the rulers.
They were elected by the consent of the people and we need to withdraw our consent in the elections in November. There were 86 of the 100 Senators who voted to grant the President the authority to suspend the Constitution and deprive American citizens of their right to due process by voting in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act. There were two-hundred and eight-six members of the House of Representatives who also voted for this dictatorial power. Each and every one of these traitors need to be voted out of office and should serve their next term in jail.
In a totalitarian state the government controls the people, while in a Republic, the people control the government. Dictators cannot enslave a people without first deceiving them. They invariable will convince the people that they must voluntarily give up a portion of their individual liberty in order to achieve public safety. In a Republic the people are subject to laws that protect the life, liberty and property of the people, while in a totalitarian state, the government controls the people with rules, regulations and ordinances.
In a Republic, the people are free to do whatever they want as long as they do not violate the rights of others. In a totalitarian state the people must be given permission or be granted a license before they can exercise one of their unalienable rights. In a Republic, a crime is commit
ted when one party is injured by another. No crime can be committed unless there is a victim, (Corpus Delecti). In the totalitarian state a crime occurs whenever a person breaks one of their rules. The Founding Fathers drafted the Constitution to prevent the abuse of power by elected officials.
Even though their intentions might be honorable, an elected official cannot lawfully deprive the people of their rights under the pretense of taking care of them. Officials who put the best interest of their community ahead of the rights of the individual plant the seeds of tyranny. A statesman is a public servant who represents the people and defends the Constitution while a politician says whatever he needs to say to get elected and follows the Constitution whenever it is convenient to do so.
We need to separate the sheep from the goats. We need to identify those who truly believe in the Constitution and those who give lip service to the Constitution and fail to honor their oath to preserve, protect and defend it.
