Integrated Projects

Through Week 1, students will demonstrate an advanced proficiency level with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access demonstrated through completing IntPrj-AS1. Within this project, students are directed daily to complete a series of hands-on, step-by-step-based projects. Students are expected submit a defined number of these files on a daily basis to their instructor for evaluation, as outlined in the assignment rubric.

Through Week 2, each student will independently complete IntPrj-AS2. This assignment is a Case Study Portfolio project, which requires each student to independently create files in each of the related applications from scratch (such as Word and Excel templates, Access database), use the files in conjunction to complete associated tasks, and articulate to their peers their understanding of how to apply these skills in the workplace. The electronic portfolio is submitted to the instructor for evaluation, as evaluated according to the rubric provided. Instructors will determine whether individual components are submitted as they are completed, or as a completed component, by the Thursday of that week. At the end of the second week, students will present their package to the group and explain what they have created, how it works, and how they would apply their skills in the workplace.

Students will Submit one (1) file of their choice from each Unit and one (1) Independent Challenge file from each unit to the instructor for evaluation prior to the end of the first week of the course--Units include Module 2, Word Projects II, Module 4, Excel Projects II, Module 5, Integration Projects I, Module 6, Integration Projects,Module 8, PowerPoint Projects

Week 2 Case Study: Events R Us Portfolio project requires the student to independently build an electronic portfolio of documents – such as Word and Excel templates, an Access database and a PowerPoint presentation based on the based on the scenario below, and present your final materials to the group to demonstrate your presentation skills.

You will create an electronic portfolio containing samples of your work, including:
• Access: A database of clients who could use your services
• Word: A synopsis of your company, its history and its mandate; a letter of introduction template; a letter which declines a request for refund; a mail merge for your first corporate mailing; a corporate brochure which outlines the services, prices, bundles, and discounts you offer; a survey form for clients; a synopsis of the pieces of your portfolio, descriptions of what it was like to create them, how you will apply them in the workplace
• Outlook: Outlook Contact Cards you will use in communications with your clients
• Excel: A standard invoice for your clients for services rendered; a late payment invoice; a pivot table containing information imported from Access.
• PowerPoint: A PowerPoint show which showcases your company, its services and products. You will deliver a presentation to your class, along with your PowerPoint presentation, which explains to your class what you have created and how it all works together.
