Troubleshooting an R-Net system follows a logical progression. Use this step-by-step guide to walk through the diagnostic process, from simple user checks to identifying advanced fault indicators.
Trip Code Lookup
Instantly find trip codes by searching or filtering. This tool provides a quick and interactive way to diagnose R-Net system faults based on the comprehensive service manual.

Diagnostic & Testing Procedures
- Read and Note: For LCD modules, record Trip Text, Identified Module, and Trip Code. For LED modules, count the number of flashing LEDs.
- Switch Off: Immediately turn off the entire control system to prevent potential damage.
- Check Connections: Inspect all connectors on the identified module and throughout the system for secure mating and any signs of damage or corrosion.
- Check Battery: Verify battery condition, charge level, and the integrity of connections to the control system.
- Find Definition and Action: Use this tool to find the definition and perform the required troubleshooting actions.
- Restart and Test: After checks, switch the system on and cautiously test operation.
- Contact Service Agent: If the fault persists, switch off the system immediately. Do not use the wheelchair and contact an authorized service agent.
After any repair, perform these essential tests to ensure safe and correct operation before returning to service.
- General Inspection: Check that all connectors are secure, cables are undamaged, and components are securely mounted.
- Brake Test: On a level floor, slowly push the joystick in each direction (forward, back, left, right) until brakes engage. Listen for each brake operating correctly within two seconds of releasing the joystick.
- Drive Test: Test drive at both minimum and maximum speed settings, ensuring smooth control, acceleration, and deceleration.
- Gradient Test (with assistant): Test drive on the maximum rated gradient. Ensure the chair stops securely when the joystick is released and picks up smoothly when re-engaged.
- Lights & Indicators Test: Visually check all lights and indicators for correct operation and flash rates.
- Actuator Test:1 Check each actuator for correct movement and ensure mechanical end-stops function properly.
- Inhibit Input Test: Confirm that connecting a battery charger or other inhibit device correctly prevents the wheelchair from driving.
Overview
When a fault is detected by the device, an R-net trip code will be generated. The trip code will be shown on the joystick (if it is present and equipped with a graphic display). The trip code will also be logged in the R-net system and can be investigated using the R-net PC Programmer.
Understand the fundamental structure and operational flow of the R-Net system. This section visualizes core components and key data pathways.

Diagnostic Confidence Funnel
Visualize the diagnostic process as a funnel, where each stage narrows down the potential causes of a fault, increasing confidence in the solution.
When faults occur, R-Net generates trip codes that point to specific issues. While hundreds of codes exist, they can be grouped into several key categories, giving technicians a starting point for diagnosis.
This chart shows a general distribution of fault types based on common trip codes. Communication and System errors often require firmware or configuration checks, while hardware-specific faults point to direct component issues.
