CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – August 17, 2025

54 Days!

Bonjour!

The Choletais will arrive in just under two months. Here are a few important items. A couple are the same as what you saw in the email you received on July 16. Some are new.

Dates: October 10-23 The Cholet students will arrive the evening of Friday, October 10. I’ll let you know the exact time soon. The group will arrive in the north parking lot. We may or may not have a brief welcome reception in the cafeteria - it depends on the arrival time. If it’s late at night, we’ll just get them to your homes. If it’s earlier, we’ll have that brief welcome. I’ll update you soon.

What is expected of you? I’m assuming you already read this before you agreed to host. As a refresher, please check the Host Duties and Responsibilities.

Who is hosting who? You can see where each student is staying by clicking here. You’ll see we still have a few students remaining. There is also one possible change. Alexis might take Noé, which would mean that Kira is available. More on that as it develops. If you know of anyone who would be a great host, please talk to them, show them this page and how to find the students’ letters as well as the Host Duties and Responsibilities . If you have any luck, let me know. Merci!

Excursions We will take the students on four excursions during their stay: Pittsburgh, Niagara Falls, Cleveland and Erie. You are invited to participate in these excursions, but space is limited to the capacity of the school bus. You, the host students, have dibs until mid-September. If space is available, I will invite all FHS students to sign up. If you sign up after capacity is reached, there will be a waitlist.

As you saw in the July 16 email, the Niagara Falls Excursion is all set and sign-ups began then. There is still space available if you are interested. Bring your permission slip (there’s a link on that page) and your money to the office, or to me after classes begin.

The Pittsburgh trip is almost set. We will visit the Andy Warhol Museum, the Heinz Historical Center and a stop at the Grove City Outlets. We might take a ride on Duquesne Incline. Once we have made a definite decision, I will post a link to that information. Cleveland and Erie are in the planning stages.

School Days

On school days you will bring your Cholet student however you get to school. The host family is responsible for providing lunch each day for the Cholet student. You decide if you will pack lunches or give them money to buy lunch (allow your student to enter the code when paying). On the days of the excursions, please pack lunches.

Weekends

I will not schedule any events on the weekends. What you do is up to you. I do have some suggestions on the Free Time Ideas page. If you have any suggestions for me to add to this page, please let me know.

Please note, there is a three-day weekend when they arrive since Monday, October 13 is an in-service day. That gives you one more day to plan. Casey Bolla has a suggestion for anyone who is interested. You can get more info from her. It’s the Ropes Course at Peek’n’Peak (she works there). There’s climbing, ziplining and more. She has that Monday (10:00-2:00) set, provided there are at least 30 people. The cost (up to the hosts) is $36 +$5 if you need to buy gloves. (Gloves are needed, but you may bring your own.) There is a waiver that needs to be signed by the Cholet parents. So for now, we are checking to see how much interest there is. Ask your Cholet students if they would like to do this. If so, let them know that waivers are on the way.

That’s it for now. More will be coming soon!

Monsieur
