CHAPTER 38-39
Ezekiel predicts that Israel would someday be attacked by an enemy confederation led by a warrior named Gog from the land of Magog.
CHAPTER 38
God states His anger concerning the evil plans of Gog. Gog has nations as his allies. They include Persia, Ethiopia, Libya, Gomer, and Beth-togarmah. Gog plans and attacks when Israel least expects it. The invasion will occur when Israel is at peace in their own land. That's when Gog plans to plunder and loot.
God's plan would annihilate Gog in a threefold method:
--1. A mighty earthquake would occur when all living things would quake in terror at God's presence.
--2. Enemy troops will turn against each other.
--3. There would be swords, diseases, floods, hailstorms, fire, and brimstone.
When the pagan nations witness this destruction, they will acknowledge the person and power of the true God. The Jewish nation will also know that God is indeed the only true God.
CHAPTER 39
Israel had to be purified. The nation was given seven years of war debris as fuel to last seven years. There would be seven months of funerals. It would take that long for Israel to bury the dead. God would personally allow the wild birds and animals to eat up the flesh of the dead enemy warriors.
