English, Yes PATs for extra practice - Laurie's Skating Competition

Read this story and answer the questions.
Laurie sat quietly in the empty dressing room at the ice skating rink. She had not skated in competition since her accident six months ago. As she waited for her turn to skate, Laurie was nervous. She knew that today was important for her comeback. "If I can win today," she thought, "I can skate in the World Cup next year. If I do well there, I can make it to the Olympics. That'd be fantastic!" Before Laurie had her accident, no one could beat her in competition. From the day she was ten and started to compete, she had beaten all of her opponents.
"Hi, Laurie," Kathy said, suddenly bursting through the door. "How's the knee? Is it going to slow you down? I mean, you were skating so well before you got hurt. We all thought you'd be in the Seniors by now and then in the Olympics." "I guess we'll find out tonight just where I stand," replied Laurie.
"We have some new competition this year," Kathy said, tying her laces. "There a girl from Connecticut named Jinny Jordan who's really strong in everything. I saw her skating this morning. She's unbelievable."
