Main Idea Detective

The main idea of a paragraph tells what the paragraph is about. The other sentences are details, or clues to what the paragraph is about. Strong readers use supporting details (clues) to figure out the main idea. As an educated reader, it's your turn to try it! Read the story and use the supporting details to help determine the main idea of each paragraph.
