Ambiguous Pronouns

An ambiguous pronoun is one that is used in a confusing or vague manner.To be understood, a pronoun must refer clearly to a single nearby antecedent. An antecedent is the word that it refers back to.
Ambiguous pronoun reference example: The teacher gave the student her notes. (Does the pronoun her refer to the noun teacher or the noun student?)
