Transitive, Intransitive or Linking Verbs
Transitive verbs are action verbs followed by a noun or a pronoun that indicates what or who is affected by the action expressed by the verb. "She closed the door."
Intransitive verbs are not action verbs and so no additional nouns or pronouns are needed to receive the action. Sometimes modifiers follow the verbs like "He walked quickly."
Linking verbs join two nouns that refer to the same thing. Linking verbs can also join an adjective to a subject. "He is the manager."
