Chap. 12 Ablative Case--With or Without a Preposition?
As you will see on pp. 90-91 of Ecce Romani I, Latin, like English, uses a prepositional phrase to answer Where? From where? and With whom? However, unlike English, it doesn’t use a preposition for showing “time when,” “means/instrument,” and sometimes “manner.” For each question, you have to decide for the answer if you need a preposition or not, along with the noun (and maybe adjective) in the ablative case.
