Homophones: there, their, and they're
It is very important to learn the right places to use these homophones. Many students get them mixed up a LOT! Practice until you are SURE when to use each one correctly...and then REMEMBER to do it! See how each word is used: They're is a contraction for they are, as in : They're driving to the Atlantic coast next summer. Their is a pronoun that shows that certain people (or other plural nouns) own or have possession of something, as in: I saw their new playhouse last night. There is used in these two ways: There are three kittens sitting on the fence. or We like to play on the playground over there.
