About me |
Passion & resourcefulness. That's me. Those are two traits that any teacher needs in order to get the job done. I am in my fourteenth year of my "second career" as a teacher. My previous 23 year career in sales management allows me to treat my students as individuals, and not prejudge them; a quality that is appreciated by my kids. Every once in a while, I forget that they are teenagers, with their foibles and faults of youth, but I have come to the realization that they deserve to be treated like young adults until they give you a reason not to. They understand, like, and respect me mostly because I am honest with them, and DEMAND the same. You "Do the right thing", not because you think you'll get caught, but because IT IS the right thing. My passion for the study of history leads me to teach that "What you are is a product of all that you have experienced". This is the reason that a student that is well versed in history is a more well-rounded citizen, and continues to grow through self awareness, and sensitivity to his surroundings, and others. As I always say, "The world is larger than you, or I ". I share my values with them and continue to insist that they develop their own value system, and follow it to accomplish everything they dream of. And of course, to listen to their parents... I am fortunate to have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Communications from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. Not that it matters much, but I thought I'd mention it in case that I didn't build up myself up enough with those first 2 paragraphs.... By the way, did I tell you that I LOVE teaching? Oh yeah... I do. I think I was born for it. I AM... DEFINITELY... LIVING... MY... DREAM.
