Profe Cleveland lived as a foreign exchange student to Mexico during high school and earned her B.A. in Spanish and Education from Campbell University (2003). She played volleyball for Campbell and graduated as the university’s Top Scholar Athlete (cumulative 4.0 G.P.A.), the Atlantic Sun Conference Female Athlete of the Year, and named to the Academic All-America Team, Division I. She studied at Indiana University as a Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellow earning her M.A. in Latin American Studies (2005). At IU, she taught for the Department of Spanish and Portuguese for 2 years. Profe worked at Carmel High School from 2005-2011 teaching Spanish and serving as the World Language Literacy Coach. She created and built the AP Spanish Literature program--in 2010, the program had grown to 44 students. Profe worked at The Ross School, East Hampton N.Y., as Department Chairperson of World Languages. In August of 2012, she joined Darlington School, where she served as Department Chair and director of Global Studies. Profe is committed to integrating Eastern and Western mentalities in life and in the classroom. She graduated from Heartland Yoga Therapy School with 200 hour and 500 hour degrees. In 2009 and 2010, she participated in clinical research trials with cancer patients at IU Hospital’s Simon Cancer Center. Travel and connecting with world cultures are her passion; in addition to Mexico, Profe lived in Honduras and Uruguay. |
