I value and create a classroom atmosphere of warmth, understanding, and kindness. I respect individual student needs and appreciate the talents and skills each student contributes in the learning process. I nurture and support students in their development of the English content knowledge of reading, writing, grammar usage, speaking, and listening.
I strive to raise student awareness of the processes of critical thinking, analyzing, and problem solving and integrate opportunities for students to practice the application of these skills, stressing that these are the tools they will need to realize their dreams and aspirations. I believe in empowerment. I hope to spark students' intellectual curiosity and facilitate their learning in a manner which promotes and strengthens them as independent thinkers who will be able to accomplish excellence in whatever endeavors they choose.
I have a B.A. in English from Indiana University and a Masters in Education from Indiana Wesleyan. This is my 27th year teaching at Goshen High School.
