Spanish Electives at NGMS Students at NGMS will learn basic Spanish communication skills to converse with native speakers of the language. They will practice Spanish by listening, speaking reading and writing. Students who successfully complete three semesters of Spanish at NGMS and successfully pass the Exit Exam will qualify for HS credit for Spanish 1. This means they can start with Spanish 2 and go all the way to Advanced Placement Spanish in High School.
There is a three semester cycle to qualify for High School Credit
The names of these classes in PowerSchool are: Spanish (less than one year) 1st semester class Entry in 6th or 7th grade Spanish Beginning (one year) 2nd semester class Continue in either semester 7th or 8th grade Spanish I (MS for HS Credit) 3rd semester class Finish in either semester in 8th grade. The EXIT EXAM is worth 20% of the Final Grade in the Middle School for High School credit class.
There are various ways to keep track of your child’s progress. I will be using weekly or bi-weekly updates to keep parents and students informed about Quizzes, Tests, and Projects.
You can check on PowerSchools and remind.com for these updates. I will give the students the codes for remind during the first week of class.
Students will learn about music, art, culture, traditions and FOOD! Please contact me with any questions you have about our program!
