My name is Laurent Vanneste and I am your son/daughter’s French teacher this school year at Saint Petersburg High School. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you.
I am originally from Paris, France and I grew up in Brussels, Belgium. I have a degree in French and I have my professional certification in the State of Florida. I am married and I have three children: Robert, 22 at the University of Chicago working on a masters degree in public policy. Emilie, 18, Freshman at St Mary's College at Notre Dame and Juliette, 9 will be entering 4th grade at Perkins elementary .
Learning another language is hard work, but it can (and should) be fun. I do my best to provide a variety of learning experiences both in class and through extra-curricular activities. In class, while much of the written work and all tests are done individually, students are often given the opportunity to work with partners and small groups.
Please note that while French is an elective, it is an academic class and counts towards Bright Future Scholarships! Your son/daughter may experience some challenges in adapting to the fast pace of high school. Extra help is available upon request.
My primary goal is always to strive for highest student achievement for all students. I will be available to answer questions or help students in any way possible to make this class successful for them.
