About me |
This is my fourth year teaching at Canterbury School in Greensboro, North Carolina. Last year, I moved from Brooklyn, New York, having taught 5th grade for the past six years at P.S. 198 in Brooklyn. Our move as a family comes following my wife's recent hire as professor of psychology at Elon University. I was born in Israel and after serving in the Israeli army, moved back to Brooklyn where I spent several years as a child. I enrolled at Brooklyn College and, being very fulfilled with working with children and adolescents completed my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Sociology. I spent my student-teaching working at an elementary school in East New York, having that experience I went on to get my master's in Educational Foundations, Administration and Policy from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I regard teaching as one of the noblest professions, and I am proud to be a teacher of the 5th grade. I enjoy watching the spark ignite in my students when they learn, grow, and create. I truly believe that each student can accomplish great things if she or he applies themselves to any task. I want to create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creative and critical thinking, imagination, discipline and a passion for lifelong learning. Today, I spend much of my time preparing lessons, grading student work, playing guitar, and enjoying my time with my wife and our two boys. This year will be a year of change all around and I am eagerly looking forward to it. |
