| I teach 5th grade social studies and how the early Native American Indian Cultures interacted and reacted to the often harsh treatment by Europeans cultures attempting to conquer the Americas.
I love teaching Medieval History. What middle school student does not find Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, The Crusades, Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, Marco Polo, Muhammad, Charlemagne and Saladin, Mansa Musa, Japanese samurai warriors, or China's remarkable inventions interesting? Most Californians know far less about the Inca, Aztec, and Maya than they should. Middle Age explorers like Columbus, Vasco da Gamma, Magellan, Cortez, and Pizarro are as interesting as was the early Catholic Church and its harsh beginnings.
As a one time employer and a corporate manager I teach as though I want to employ my students in the future. Most companies do not hire soley on what you know, but also on how one goes about problem solving for things they know little to nothing about. In addition to the CA Medieval History curriculum, I hope to impart how to be a successful problem solver and a great researcher. These are academic as well as life skills.
Quia helps me to more successfully teach middle school students. Year in and year out Quia helps my students find great success learning about the Medieval History content.
