I love French and France and anything related to the Francophone culture! I decided to become a French teacher when I was a student at Forest Park High School because I loved French and had always wanted to become a teacher. During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I attended universities in Québec, Canada and Tours, France. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a BSED in Foreign Language Education in 1995. Since then, I have earned my Master's degree in Foreign Language Education at Georgia Southern University and my Doctorate of Education in Curriculum Theory at Georgia Southern University. I have been teaching in a traditional classroom for 16 years. I have taught in Clayton County, Effingham County and Bulloch County (all in Georgia). I like to challenge my students to become responsible for their own learning through individual and group projects wherein they learn to articulate their understanding of the French language and Francophone cultures. I am currently training to teach on Georgia Virtual School and am participating in student teaching with Ms. Abigail Jackson.
Objectifs (Objectives)
I would like to encourage my students to speak French and to use their knowledge of French to expand their entire knowledge base. In this course, we will be listening, reading, speaking and writing in French for communication. It is imperative that my students study each night at home in addition to completing the on-line assignments. Students who are serious about learning a foreign language will do so through placing themselves in contact with French outside of the classroom. I wish this for every single student that I teach!
N’ayez pas peur! (Do not be afraid)
I am here to help you. I have been in your place as a student for a very long time and in very stressful and difficult situations. I understand what it feels like to be uncertain of an assignment or of your own ability to speak French or if your question is worth asking… so in all instances, ASK me questions if you need help. Email me any time or call me during the hours listed in the Syllabus and I will do my best to help you. The only thing to fear is getting behind: keep up with your work on a daily basis so that it is manageable and not overwhelming. YOU CAN DO THIS!

******GEORGIA VIRTUAL SCHOOL STUDENTS: This website was created for my traditional classroom students and DOES NOT follow GaVS curriculum. However, there may be some exercises that you could use to practice such things as verb conjugation and vocabulary, if you so desire.
