About me |
I was born in Los Angeles, California, and I have lived in California most of my life. Just recently, in December 2011, I moved to Texas for the first time. I wanted to move to another state because California is an expensive place to live in, although it is does have great weather and lots of places to have fun. My first language was Spanish or, to be accurate, Mexican Spanish. I did not begin learning English until I started school, and because I was raised in San Ysidro, California, a city with mostly Spanish speakers, I did not learn English very well. Even though I did understand spoken English, I had trouble communicating in English for several years. Luckily, it has improved drastically over the years. In 2007, which was the year I graduated from high school, I was accepted to California State University, Long Beach. In December 2010, I received a BA degree in Spanish Literature & Linguistics, and then I continued on with my education for another year by attending a teacher preparation program. At this moment I am in a program called Texas Teachers Alternative Certification, which will grant me a Texas teacher certification after teaching for one year. Besides receiving a Spanish BA degree, I have worked for over three years as a Spanish book proofreader and translator for Teacher Created Materials Publishing. My job was basically to translate English documents to Spanish and to ensure that Spanish books have correct spelling and are grammatically correct. |
