Make sure you read it before you get to class. You will write a summary or questions & answers, or share, or switch articles with a peer, or read aloud, or draw a picture, or answer 5W's, or write a story using this article and then sometimes present the completed assignment to the class. " Please No weather reports. " TUESDAY - Finish Vocab that was not finished in class, VIS chart or Flash Cards. WEDNESDAY - Study for Vocab Test (THE TEST FOR THIS WEEK is LASTS WEEKS WORDS) THURSDAY - Take Home Quiz "Lesson Review" from the book. Each Lesson Review is at the of each lesson.Students can use book, notes or the internet to answer questions. FRIDAY - QUIA.COM -Most weeks it will be a take home vocab test, aka a practice test for the following week vocab test, survey, game, or other test. GRADES: A. Your final grade in the course will be determined by your performance on tests, quizzes, homework assignments, lab work, reading and answering questions from the book, and a Science Project. B. Grades will be based on a point system determined by the Broward County School Board. A=100-90, B=89-80, C=79-70, D=69-60, F=59-0 D. Grades will be based on a point system, categorized and weighted: QUIA = 10 % NOTES = 10 % READING = 10 % UNIT TEST = 15 % HOMEWORK = 10 % VOCAB TEST = 15 % LAB ACTIVITY = 10 % VIS / WARM-UP = 10 % LESSON REVIEW = 10% COLLECTION AND GRADING OF ASSIGNMENTS: All Classwork and Homework will be collect, and grade and returned to student. Student needs to hold on to all returned assignments or the last day of that week. If absent on collection day, the assignment can be turned in the following day and turned in with no penalty. LATEWORK: Most assignments can be turned in late for 50% credit, no matter how late, except Science Articles. CLASS RULES: Everglades & Broward School rules will be followed. No cell phones, iPods, PSPs, Cameras or any electronic devices are allowed in class. If I see it, the object will be given to administration for parent pick-up. PARENTAL NOTIFICATION: Parents Should Check Pinnacle for Students current grade, questions on missing assignments, and for current weekly assignments. NOTE TO STUDENTS: Student: If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to meet with me after class or contact me by email. You will also be responsible for tracking your own grade on pinnacle. Your grade is your choice, but I can help you to excel if you wish. I encourage you to take ownership of your own education as you start to think more seriously about your future.
